All the problems and difficulties we experience in our daily life, including the obstacles to our spiritual practice, arise from our negative karma. Let’s face it, even when we’re earnestly trying to improve ourselves, we are definitely still prone to all kinds of negative thoughts and actions. Whether it’s simple irritation with family or coworkers, a full-blown temper tantrum, or some variety of reckless self-indulgence, all too often we fall short of our better intentions.
Understanding how to purify our mind gives us enormous freedom to change our life and experiences. A pure mind has pure experiences, but due to our negative minds and actions every day we experience a lot of suffering, frustration and difficulty.
Learning purification techniques taught by Buddha is the ultimate problem solver, we can free ourselves from the burden of negativities and become light and happy.
This Friday Night Lecture teaches us simple methods that we can use to purify our mind both in meditation and during the day so that we can experience a lasting inner peace and happiness.
