During this very special day retreat we will meditate on the sacred object emptiness, or ultimate truth. Gaining even a little experience of this object can profoundly change your understanding of your self, others and the world.
The Heart Sutra is the most condensed form of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras where Buddha Shakyamuni revealed the hidden truth of our self and the world we live in. Within this sutra is an explanation of the four profundities that help us understand the ultimate nature of things, emptiness, how things exist conventionally as mere appearance and mere name and how to unite these two truths.
Gen Samten Kelsang is an ordained Buddhist monk and is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New York. He has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over thirty years and is one of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s most senior students. We are delighted to have him join us virtually for this special day retreat.
